UNLV & NSC Schools of Nursing were among the sponsors for the 2010 International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning Conference (INACSL) which was held June 17th-19th at the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas.

UNLV Dean Carolyn Yucha and NSC Dean Shirlee Snyder, with faculty members Jessica Doolen and Ludy Llasus, as well as Executive Director of UNLV Planning and Construction David Frommer and CSCLV Director Lance Baily presented a preconference workshop to over 150 conference attendees entitled Developing A Multi-Disciplinary, Multi-Institutional Clinical Simulation Training Site.  This symposium summarized the trials and tribulations experienced by faculty and staff as they worked for three years in the development of the CSCLV.  Curriculum revisions, design and construction, staffing, funding and first year challenges were addressed by the panel to conference participants in two, four hour sessions.

As part of the conference, Dean Yucha and Director Baily provided tours of the CSCLV to over 200 conference attendees.  Guests from all over the world were guided through the facility’s 31,000 sq. ft. of clinical education space, including its Standardized Patient Hall, High-Fidelity Simulation Hall and Surgical Skills Hall. More than a few participants gasped in awe at the impressive technological integrations and equipment built into every lab and classroom space at the CSCLV.

Recently Dean Yucha and Associate Dean Miriam Bar-on happily announced a continued effort to build on the success of the CSCLV with investments into new research projects.  Two research grants will be joint-funded by the UNLV School of Nursing and the University of Nevada School of Medicine to promote ongoing collaborative simulation projects at the CSCLV.
